Part 2 - Bebenahan gaya non Minimalis

Sudah terlihat dengan jelas, aku bukan minimalis, dan ga pengen juga tiba-tiba jadi minimalis dengan membuang semua barang yang dimiliki. I love having stuff, they sparks joy. "quote Konmari


Tapi punya lemari baju dua kali dua penuh dengan tumpukan baju, celana dll, beserta laci-laci di luar lemari untuk menampung tambahan-tambahannya. Ditambah koper2 penuh dengan barang2 berkode "mungkin kapan2 bisa dipake lg" atau "mungkin bisa dijual"

Kayaknya too much ya. It's a wake up call. Barang-barang yang bertumpuk tidak sparks joy.


OK ud ngaku. I have too much stuff.
Tapi.. ngebayangin menghabiskan waktu weekend santai ku dengan bebenahan sampai semua rapi, ga rela ya. Berapa kali weekend harus aku habiskan? Ngebayanginnya aja ud bikin demotivasi.

Jadi bagaimana memulainya?


Aku melakukan apa yang biasa kulakukan di weekend, bersantai menikmati sabtu minggu tenang. 
Tapi kali ini sambil menapak tilas apa saja yang sudah kulakukan dalam usaha merapikan rumah.


1. sempet cobain 30 days challenge dr buku the minimalist, di mana aku harus menyingkirkan barang sejumlah hari.

hari 1 buang 1 barang,

hari 2 buang 2 barang,

hari ke 3 buang 3 barang dan seterusnya sampe hari ke 30 buang 30 barang.

Pada kenyataannyaaku terlalu ga sabar untuk yang sedikit2 kayak gini, dan karena waktu itu barang-barangku kepisah-pisah, aku jadi kurang pede menyingkirkannya. kayak kaos kaki, mana kepikiran untung menyingkirkan, wong nemu sepasang aja susah.

Tapi ini mengajarkan aku untuk lakukan pelan-pelan dari yang mudah, biar lama2 terbiasa dan ga berasa berat . Okeh, catat


2. pakai cara si Konmari, kalo rapiin barang sebaiknya yg sekelompok, bukan by ruang tp by tipe barang. ini setuju banget, karena untuk org yg doyan ngebala di mana2 kayak aku ini, barang2 setipe emang ada di mana2. baju, tas, handuk, bisa di kamar 1, kamar 2 bahkan di ruang tamu. nah... Sudah kulakukan, tapi semua barang tetap banyak dan bertumpuk. Dengan alasan yes sparks joy, aku masih sayang sama barang-barangku itu. Kalau dijual ga ada harganya, tapu ga rela dikasih or dibuang karena dulu belinya juga ga murah-murah amat.

3. Seorang profesional organizer bernama, Andrew Mellen dalam bukunya "Unstuff Your Life, mengatakan: "Stuff is Stuff".

dia bilang hanya kamu yg bisa memutuskan berapa banyak barang yg kamu ingin miliki, dan dalam salah satu woskhopnya dia bilang, kalo semua barang yg kamu miliki berasanya penting semua atau berharga semua, mungkin memang semua penting, mungkin memang semua berharga.

Tp coba bayangkan disaat genting, disaat kamu hanya punya waktu dikit untuk selamatkan semua barang penting dan berhargamu. Apa dl yg akan kamu selamatkan? you will realize, itu yg paling penting dan paling berharga buatmu.

Ngena banget ini sama aku, kata "Stuff is Stuff". kita simpan dan sayang2 pun ga bakal jd duit lagi. Ok, catat. 


Anyway, 

Semua penulis dan inspirator di atas, punya tujuan akhir yg sama.

At the end of the day, kalo barang2 yang kamu miliki saat ini ga ada gunanya, juga ga bikin kamu happy aka sparks joy. Buat apa terus-terusan disimpan? Just keep the thing that you love, that is important to u, and it's useful. Dan mulai berbagi, kali-kali barang yang sudah ga penting buatmu, bisa berguna untuk orang lain.



OK, ini rencanaku


Mulai cari cara menyingkirkan barang dengan cepat, tapi sebisa mungkin bukan dengan cara dibuang. 

Stop beli barang yang sudah punya stok banyak untuk sementara, supaya tidak semakin bertumpuk.


Ketika bermasalah dengan kaos kaki, sebagian besar barang sudah dikelompokkan di "rumah" nya masing-masing. Jadi aku bisa mulai dengan yang ringan-ringan dulu, pulang kerja kuhabiskan waktu 1-2 jam paling maksimal, begitu pula weekend.



Buku textbook kuliah
Dulu waktu beli, harganya mahal banget dan tebal, besar, makan tempat, tapi semua masih terlihat mulus (ketahuan ga dibaca-baca amat :p). Ga rela buang, tapi dijualpun itu edisi keluaran 10 tahun tahun lalu, siapa yang mau beli.  so aku foto dan kirim ke teman ku yang dosen di kampus almamaterku, tanya apakah perpustakaan kampus mau terima. jawabannya yes. So bye bye textbook, semoga berguna.


Gelas/mug.  
Hadiah belanja, bingkisan satu bulanan, bingkisan nikahan teman. lebih dari 20 gelas/mug aku kumpulkan. Aku tanya security komplek, ada yang baru mau nikahan atau pindahan rumah tidak, aku mau kasih gelas, masih baru, mulus. aku kasih tunjuk fotonya. Dan yes, bye bye gelas/mug. 
psst. aku masih punya banyak, karena tiap aku travelling juga demen banget beli mug, tapi all have special meaning, jadi masih aku simpan.  


Buku Novel
Salah satu kebiasaan gilaku adalah, beli buku fisik, tapi baca buku dari ebook. Alasannya, kalo aku lagi ingin baca buku di coffee shop, aku bawa buku fisik. Jarang sekali terjadi, pertama aku pelupa. Dan jarang banget merencanakan ke coffee shop untuk duduk manis dan baca, biasanya ga terencana.
Yang ada, banyak buku novel ku masih mulus dan banyak yang masih diplastikin. 
Ini mau aku jual.

 
Pakaian, tas, sepatu boots dan banyak lagi


Aku sempet jual pakaian dan tas di salah satu market place, cape banget tawar menawarnya. Mungkin memang aku pasang harga kemahalan, atau mungkin mereka memang suka nawar aja. Tapi, aku ga pengen ribet lagi, ga pengen jualan lagi. 
Tapi aku ingat, barang yang disimpan pun ga jadi uang. So aku akan jual dengan harga lebih murah dan sebagian uangnya akan kusumbangkan. Masih belum tahu mau disumbangkan ke mana. nanti tanya teman-teman dulu,






Part 1 - Balada kaos kaki

Di Indonesia, terutama di kota besar seperti Jakarta, banyak orang menggunakan jasa  ART, or jasa bersih-bersih harian. Jasa tersebut jadi jalan keluar terbaik untuk karyawan, untuk entrepreneur, yang sudah seharian sibuk di luar, pulang macet-macetan, sampai di rumah terlalu lelah bahkan untuk mikir harus bebenahan.


Dengan mudah pekerjaan bersih-bersih di rumahku juga terselesaikan dengan menggunakan jasa mereka. Mereka bantu nyapu, ngepel, lap kaca dan permukaan meja, dll. Aku hanya tinggal merapikan barang-barang supaya tidak terlihat berserakan di meja or di lantai. Gampang dan cepat, tinggal susun rapi barang-barang yang ada di atas meja dan memasukkan barang-barang ke lemari, or laci terdekat.

Ok, fine. Maybe it’s not the best solution. Dan dalam beberapa hari pun, akan berserakan lagi. Tapi mayan lah, kalo pas ada tamu datang ke rumah. Yang penting bersih, mereka kan ga bakal gragasan buka-buka laci. Hehe. 


Tentu saja lama-lama lemarinya pun penuh, so aku beli laci atau kotak cantik untuk tempat penyimpanan. Dan beberapa kali dalam setahun aku berusaha declutter (bahasa kekinian bebenahan kayaknya nih). 


Hari Senin sampai Jumat sibuk dengan pekerjaan dan semua kegiatan lain, Sabtu Minggu, biasanya dihabiskan dengan bersantai di rumah sambil nonton, or baca buku or tidur seharian (the best). 

Sabtu minggu kali ini dihabiskan dengan kegiatan memilah barang-barang, mana yang dibuang, mana yang disumbangkan, mana yang dijual, dipisahkan dibeberapa kotak ditaruh sementara di kamar tamu slash ruang kerja slash gudang, dan dirapikan kembali sisanya, dimasukkan ke kotak or lemari terdekat.

Dan ku lanjutkan hidupku, kerja seharian, pulang ke rumah, panggil jasa bersih-bersih kalau sudah kotor dan berantakkan


Tahun demi tahun berlalu, kegiatan de-clutter masih kulakukan. Banyak buku tentang “organizing your stuff”, “how to be a minimalist” kubaca, YouTube tentang decluttering (cara bebenahan) ditonton. Akan tetapi lemari, laci, dan kotak-kotak barang tetap semakin banyak. Karena pada kenyataannya, barang yang ingin disumbangkan dan dijual aja masih bertumpuk, tak tersentuh.

Inget laci di atas? sekarang posisinya sudah digantikan dengan rak besi, bisa simpan barang lebih banyak.

Tetapi rumah masih terlihat "bersih", karena semua tersimpan tersembunyi.

Tetap ku lanjutkan hidupku, kerja seharian, pulang ke rumah, panggil jasa bersih-bersih kalau sudah kotor dan berantakkan




Kaos kaki


Tiap kali mau pakai kaos kaki, harus cari dulu, harus ngubeg aka ngacak-ngacak lemari baju or laci or tas laundry. 

Lebih rusuh lagi kalo pas butuh beberapa kaos kaki sekaligus untuk dibawa travel, kamar uda kayak abis perang dunia kedua, semua diacak-acak. Sering banget berakhir dengan beli kaos kaki lagi, tapi entah kenapa tetep aja berakhir dengan yg uda butut, yang kendor bahkan yang bolong or beda pasangan, karena yang baru lenyap entah kemana. 


Kesel akutu, kalo lagi jalan-jalan, harus berhenti beberapa kali karena kaos kaki merosot ke bawah, dan  nyangkut di telapak kaki.


Ga nyaman banget jalan-jalan di mall sambil sebentar-sebentar korek-korek sepatu benerin kaos kaki. 

Ga pede banget travelling bawa kaos kaki butut hanya karena aku gatau taro kaos kaki di mana aja. 


So disuatu weekend, seperti biasa ku bongkar semua barang dan bebenahan dimulailah. Tapi kali ini dengan 1 misi yang berbeda. Setiap kaos kaki yg kutemukan, kukumpulkan disatu tempat. Dari lemari baju, lemari sepatu, kotak-kotak, dan dari laci-laci lainnya.

Hasilnya mencengangkan.

 

Setelah membuang yang sudah butut dan memisahkan kaos kaki yang hanya tinggal sebelahpun, masih terkumpul lebih dari 50 pasang kaos kaki yg masih bisa digunakan, OMG, gila pake banget. Beberapa diantaranya masih baru pula, gila pake banget banget. 


Beda-beda tipe sih, ada yang tebal, tipis, compression socks, yang berbulu dan soft buat bobo, buat olahraga, buat sehari2 (ankle length). Yes, tetep ini masi banyak banget, tapi setidaknya sekarang aku tau, bisa irit uang karena ga perlu beli kaos kaki sampai ribuan tahun, ok lebay, 5 tahun perhaps?. Anyway.. ini bahagia banget lho rasanya. 

Untuk 5 tahun ke depan


So namanya manusia ya, kalo uda ngerasain bahagia, pasti nagih. Diweekend itu aku ga berhenti sampai situ, mulai kukelompokkan barangku yang lain-lain, dan masing-masing aku “rumahkan” disatu tempat yang sama.

Sama seperti kaos kaki, setiap barang yang dikumpulkan dengan kawanannya, selalu mencengangkan hasilnya, jumlahnya lebih banyak dari yang kuduga.


Lalu .. aku mulai mikir, kalau setiap tipe barang harus kurumahkan, berarti harus beli laci dan lemari lagi untuk menciptakan makin banyak “rumah” buat barang-barang itu.

Terus, kalo rumahku jadi rumah barang-barang, aku tinggal di mana?

re-Scuba or stop scuba, it's your choice


I love water sport, and when i tried scuba diving, i was hooked. lovelovelove it. me and my breath under the sea surrounded by nothing but sea water and the living things inside it, perfect.

But, it's been years since my last diving. i did stop for a while cause a very bad accident happened last time i dive. A friend of mine passed away, may he rest in peace. 
Anyway, that's another story. 

This is a story when i decided to start to dive again. i went to Raja Ampat, Liveaboard or somesay LOB, with a friend and her friends.

i learnt that almost all of them have their own gear, some of them have big big set of underwater camera. and they brought like.. 2 luggages plus carry on bag plus a regulator bag. whilst myself, only 1 luggage with everything in it (including my rent gears) and a carry on bag. 
i am never considered as a travel light person. but this time, i guess i'm the lightest? mehh


1st day diving
Check dive
i was soo nervous, i was not calm at all at all. and become more nervous when i can't equalise and my ear hurt so bad. the Dive guide kept signalling that i have to calm down and come down slowly. at that time i was thinking to just cancel the whole thing and go up to the surface. But, the Dive guide accompanying me and very patient and so did all 3 of my dive friends, one of them was my dive buddy. they were waiting for me, cheering me up (i know we're under the sea, how can i know they're cheering me up, but they did). and i think they were one of the important aspect that make me thrive and continue the dive that day.
i did calm down, but still can not enjoy the dive, cause i worry to much. is my air still enough, why i can't control my buoyancy  better, keep going to low or to high. all eyes were watching me. i kept looking at the Dive guide make sure i don't go to far from him. etc etc etc.

2nd day
1st dive
my guide loosen my dive mask a lil bit. he said, i cant equalise probably because my dive mask was too tight. he was rite. my dive went well the whole day. still a lil bit worry about having enough air, but i started to enjoy the dive

3rd day 
1st strong current 
i did go to several places before i stopped diving years ago, but i never encounter strong current.
so this was my first. so i got nervous again when i try to go against the current but end up going backward lol. again i got the best buddy, she helped me and then the Dive guide also helped to go forward. 

4th day
1st nite dive
everything went well so far, 
my buoyancy got better.
so my buddy said, i should try the night dive. 
i've been avoiding night dive since day one, cause i was not confidence enough to do day dive yet let alone nite dive, but since i gain more confidence over the past few days, i borrowed a flashlight and did the night dive.
once we went down, my flash light went off, i laugh inside.... we got in to the current again, 3 out of 5 got separated, so only me and the dive guide left, so the dive guide ask me to stay put, hooked me to one of the coral, and leave me in the dark whilst he go around to find the other 3. we were only at 5 meters deep at least, so i can see everything in the darkness.
if that was my first day, i would be super nervous, but since i've been to several dives, gain my confidence.  i was so calm, i enjoy the darkness, and enjoy looking at my dive guide flash light here and there, mann he is a fast swimmer, did i tell u that his name is Salmon?


story of the day:
- bring someone who u can trust, so u can be calmer knowing someone is watching u. and they can become ur great support system. trust me for this one :)
- don't push it, just go slow if you wanted to start again or just started. try again and again, and always be careful. 
- step by step, buy ur own gear, remember what happened to the flash light i borrowed? :p
- and if u're still scared after several time, maybe diving is not for u, there r still a lot of way to enjoy the sea. don't be disappointed.







30 something gal, Mount Rinjani hiking as a nubie


I summit the second highest volcano in Indonesia, Mount Rinjani, 3,726 meters (12,224 ft) tall in my mid 30.
I know most people (including myself actually), would want more relaxing trip, enjoy the shooting stars from a nice hotel when u're 30. Hike with your stuff or your big backpack, build a camp and stay up in the mountain with no toilet and no shower for days sounds like high school or college students type of journey. Well you couldn't be more right. Of course there are some people who still enjoy that kind of experiences when they're older, cause it's their hobby, they love nature, they are sporty, so .. yeah, you go guys!!

I'm not that kind of person.
i'm some-what sporty, i do go swimming every now and then, running every now and then, go to the gym every now and then, basically the words every-now-and -then r always in the routine.
Don't be ashamed "every now and then" people,  you r not alone. :D

But I do like trying something new,
and going the mountain is something new for me, i never done that when i was younger 'cause my mom won't let me (if you're an Indonesian gal, you know why), and of course i have no money if i wanted to do it without my parents knowing.

The beauty of trying new stuff when u're older, u have more money than when u're in uni. You can afford to buy better stuff, you can go with tour guide, u can plan better, basically much more relaxing than going with limited budget.
And one of the pleasures that you can afford is the assistance of porters on your trek, porters may carry everything from your personal belongings to the supplies like water and food, and of course they'll set up the tent for u. So u don't need to worry who will set up the tent, who will cook, who will go a lil bit further to get water, who will clean after you eat, etc etc. you can just enjoy the trekking, basically u just need to bring your a*s up to the mountain.
Sorry college students :D, but u'll get there one day.

Anyway, there were 6 of us going to Rinjani, i was the only gal (story of my life since uni). we use a lot of porters, i think there are like 8 of them.
Just incase some of us can not or would not continue, there will be one or 2 porters who will guide him / her to go back to base camp. So we planned to have 3 set of team, the weakest, the non ambitious and the summit. This is because, some of us (me) were not sure that we r strong enough to do the hiking or trekking all the way, and some of us already planned no to summit, so we make sure that everyone can go with their own pace.

Since i was a nubie, there's no such thing as over prepared. I read a lot of blogs about trekking (not hiking), What to expect, what to prepare and what not. And remember when i said that one of the beauty of doing new things when u're older is u got money to spend. haha, so yeah i shopped.
Triclimate jacket, waterproof pants, gortex shoes, gortex gloves, gortex hat, dry fit tee, backpack, warm socks, sleeping bag, you named it, i bought 'em lol.

But of course there are things that you can't buy with money. ur mental and physical fitness. U need to prepare for the climate, the whole day trekking, and the hard obstacles. unless you're planning to be carried all the way up by porters, better you prepare yourselves.
I prepared myself by climbing up 26 levels of office stairs once every 3 days and gradually up to every day within 2 months, swimming at least once a week, and yoga for my scoliosis.

We went up with a very slow pace trip, so it's going to be a 4 days trip.
Day 1 started at 2 PM to 1st basecamp
Day 2 started at 7.30 AM to 2nd base camp 
Day 3 summit at 12 AM (people who didn't want to go summit, go back to 1st base camp)
day 4 go down, and back to hotel

Here's the note summary, that probably not in men trekking list.
  • Sunblock for my face. 
  • Sunblock for my body
  • Cleaning set for my face and body, since i can't shower. (I bring wet tissues for my body and face wet tissues for my face)
  • Mouth wash, just incase i can't even brush my teeth up there
  • Sports bras 
  • Plastic for my trash 
Since porters gonna bring my stuff up to the camp area. I separate my things in to 2 bags. 
- Things that i need in camp
set of clothing, (t-shirt, sports bra, pants), sandals
set of wet tissues to bath myself lol
i put everything in a plastic bag, 1 set each. so it's easy to find and repack and wont get wet
- Things that i need when i walk up to the camp
snacks (chocolate bar and honey)
raincoat
water bottle
windbreaker
small wet tissues
plastic for my trash


everything sealed in a plastic bag, so it wont get we and easier to unpack
